i'm taking a break from gwen bell's best of 2009 challenge today because
I GOT INTO GRAD SCHOOL!
this is the best recent news... im excited mostly because im being given another chance at this degree. i was enrolled at loyola university in maryland, but that fell apart. i put most of the blame on work and them. i made poor decisions, but got very little support from loyola afterwards. i was on academic probation in the spring (first time in my entire fucking life) because i got one c+ in the fall. even though i was doing better during the semester, i couldnt bring my gpa high enough so they booted me in may. it took them all summer to process my appeal, and i ended up "meeting" with them while i was on vacation out of state. pointless waste of 45 minutes. they half listened to what i said, deciding to uphold the ruling (im sure before the call even started based on the "questions" i was asked). i took a month off to piss and moan about the unfairness of the loyola system (they really don't give a shit about anyone not getting a doctorate). then i decided to reapply to the university of baltimore program. id gotten in before, and i was hoping i could do it again. i included an explanation of my loyola dismissal with my application so i was nervous that they would reject me for my prior performance. well... they didnt... the letter came in over the weekend, and i officially accepted this morning. i start on january 25th :D
so, for those of you who don't know, this will be grad school round 3 for me. before loyola, i attended george washington university back in the fall of 2006 (fresh from undergrad). my original goal was to earn two masters - speech pathology and psychology. unfortunately, the speech program at gw was frustrating and boring. i dropped out at the end of the first semester and started working fulltime. in 2007, i started applying to counseling psychology programs, getting into most and opting to attend loyola starting fall 2008... it's a fun game to play, but i hope this is the end of my school applications. from here on, nothing but job applications

Awww congrats to you! I'm sure you'll do excellent & don't feel bad; I've been in 2 grad programs myself. I couldn't give either 1 100%, so I ended up quitting at the end of the semester. I'm thinking of finishing....but I need to be 100% dedicated!
