(hopefully, this works. youtube won't allow videos longer than 10 minutes, and my middle name is rambler. i'm uploading directly through blogger eep) so this is part of a vlog meme. i don't quite know who started it, but it's funtacular. all about accents and dialects, and i <3 phonology. i was born and raised in maryland. my mom is from georgia; my dad is from new york. we lean towards the southern half of the family in terms of some word usage and pronunciation
so that's my horribly awkward self. i really should never be allowed in front of a camera. thanks to jenn, rini and emily for inspiring me and amy for encouraging me to do this post. so... blame them ;)

I've always hated the sound of my voice too -- which is weird because I was in radio. :)

@rini: i think i've heard potato bug and rolypoly, too. i haven't said rolypoly since i was little though :) that's interesting you've been self conscious about your voice while doing radio. i always figured radio/tv people were most confident in their vocal abilities :)
Kudos on the vlog... my little sister-cousin (aka Bathroom photographer) keeps telling me that a Vlog is what I need to do next. I told her I would only on the condition if she "stars" in it with me.
I'll have to see what I can do this weekend with her help :)
